Microsoft Prices 25th Anniversary Xbox at $899

Microsoft has confirmed pricing for its 25th anniversary Xbox: $899 for a special-edition console styled after the original translucent green Xbox from 2001. Preorders open August 27th at 10AM ET, though Microsoft says some 'dedicated fans' are getting early access invites starting now via email.

Each unit ships with a matching 'OG Green' controller and a full download of Halo: Campaign Evolved. Microsoft also revealed at Gamescom that every console will be individually laser-etched and numbered, reinforcing the collector's-edition angle. Underneath the nostalgic shell, it's essentially a rebranded Xbox Series X, with launch set for November 13th.

The price sits well above the standard Series X, positioning this as a premium nostalgia play rather than a mainstream upgrade.
