Google TV Streamer Jumps to $149, a 50% Price Hike

Google's 4K streaming box and smart home hub now costs $50 more than its 2024 launch price.

Google has quietly raised the price of its Google TV Streamer from $99 to $149, a 50% increase from its original 2024 launch price. The higher price is already live on the Google Store and Best Buy, though Amazon still lists the device at $99 as of this writing.

The streamer, which also functions as a smart home hub, isn't alone in getting pricier. This follows Google's recent $100 price bump on its Pixel 11 lineup compared to Pixel 10 models, and comes amid broader price increases across streaming devices and consumer electronics tied to component shortages affecting everything from laptops to game consoles.

It's unclear whether Amazon will eventually match the new pricing or continue offering the device at its original cost while supplies last.

Why it matters: A 50% price hike on a device barely a year old signals that hardware margins are getting squeezed harder than usual, likely due to memory and chip shortages rippling through consumer electronics. Shoppers eyeing a Google TV Streamer should grab one from Amazon now, before that pricing gap closes.
