Fairphone's Repairable Gen 6 Handset Finally Lands in the US
Fairphone, the Netherlands-based company known for building phones designed to be repaired rather than replaced, has officially launched in the United States with its Gen 6 model. The phone ships with swappable batteries, user-replaceable screens and cameras, and a pledge of extended software support, all aimed at keeping devices useful for years instead of months.
Until now, Fairphone had mostly sold through European carriers and retailers, leaving US buyers to import devices or go without. The Gen 6 US launch suggests the company sees enough demand from repair-minded and right-to-repair advocates to justify entering a market dominated by Apple and Samsung.
Specs are mid-range rather than flagship-tier, but that's consistent with Fairphone's pitch: durability and repairability over raw performance.
