Amazon Raises Prices on Echo, Kindle, and Fire TV Devices by Up to 60 Percent
Amazon has increased prices across its Echo, Kindle, Fire TV, and Eero product lines, with some devices jumping by as much as 60 percent. The company told Fortune the hikes stem from "significant increases in memory and storage component costs."
The cheapest devices took the biggest hits. The Echo Dot rose from $49.99 to $79.99, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max climbed over 40 percent to $84.99, and the entry-level Kindle now costs $149.99, up nearly 37 percent. Even Amazon's newer flagship, the Echo Dot Max, went from $99.99 to $119.99.
The timing lines up with broader memory chip shortages driven by surging AI data center demand, which has pushed up costs for manufacturers across the board. Apple similarly raised the price of its HomePod Mini earlier this year.
